The Compton YouthBuild site has undergone an extensive interior and exterior renovation, and we are excited to welcome you back to our space!
In collaboration with EQ Office and as a Full Affiliate of YouthBuild USA, the Compton YouthBuild site has been transformed into a welcoming workplace and thriving community center. Renovations are designed to inspire current and future YouthBuild members as they pursue career pathways in skilled trades. This partnership showcases the EQ design process as it extends into the broader community to support the culture, people and landscapes that are rooted within.
EQ and its vendor partners have generously donated their time and services to this mission-driven project whilst incorporating YouthBuild members into the process to provide hands-on job training and mentoring for those interested in construction and building management. Eleven YouthBuild members were involved in the construction process – creating a space truly designed by and for them! Maria Diaz, previous YouthBuild member and current Construction Assistant at Compton YouthBuild, was provided with the opportunity to intern alongside the engineering team at EQ Office after expressing interest in the field.
The building renovations include: collaboration space, green space and outdoor seating, new building entry, new ceiling grid and light fixtures, an expanded reception area, fresh interior and exterior paint, oven connections for the kitchen classroom, new furnishing throughout, and more.
The project began in May of 2021 and has an anticipated completion date of early October.
